Battery Maintenance

Proper Battery Storage

It is important to charge your Redline Lithium battery during storage in order to maintain longevity of the cells and keep the battery replenished. During storage, lithium batteries will naturally self discharge at a rate of 3%.  The battery monitoring system (BMS) will also consume small amounts of power as well.

We recommend charging your Redline Lithium Battery to 100% prior to prolong storage. Also, charging it full 1-2x a month to maintain healthy battery life.  Continue to monitor the battery health with use of the Redline Lithium App.

Winterizing your Redline Lithium Batteries

It is best to store your Redline Lithium batteries in a dry warm place.  Storing batteries in below freezing temperatures for a long time could have negative effects on the lithium cells and BMS.  Things to do prior to winter storage:

  • Disconnect all wires from battery to prevent potential loads that may discharge the battery. Redline Lithium batteries have self-discharge of 3% when not in use.

  • Fully charge your Redline Lithium batteries to prepare for prolong storage.

  • It is recommended to recharge your lithium battery when it drops down to 70% state of charge (SOC).

  • Continue to wirelessly monitor your Redline Lithium battery’s health with use of Redline Lithium App, available in Apple Store or Google Play Store.
